Half Marathon? Check.

I think I might be crazy.

This one time, I ran 13.1 miles. In the dark. By myself. Well, with 500 other people or so but no one that I knew. It hurt. The last couple of miles were kind of like death. Or something painful.

But.

There were glow sticks. I saw two shooting stars. I had a flashy baton thingy.... which after an hour and a half drove me completely crazy. Water and Powerade ended up being delicious. It was awesome and I got a medal in the end.

That's not the crazy part. The crazy part is that even though I needed to take ibuprofen for the next two days, even though I had four blisters at the end of it, even though I was exhausted the next day and my legs killed... I plan on running another in October. Also, I may or may not have looked up a training schedule for a marathon. And prospective marathon dates.

I'd be lying if I said I liked running.... um.... I don't get it.

Hiya bunk-mate. Do you love me?

Wonderful things:

-I'm running a half marathon in less than a week! And training has gone well. Running long distances is surprisingly not horrible. I likes it.
-My mom is in town!
-I ate Indian food last night. My mom and I split lamb saag and this chicken mushroom thing that I love. Plus naan. And lassis. Um. It was delicious.
-It's summer!
-Hiking is wonderful.
-Swimming and hot tubbing makes me happy.
-Work is good and occupying.
-Lab work is entertaining and busy.
-I have a series of wonderful friends who make me happy, buy me juice, go on adventures with me, make me laugh, call me, text me happy things, go running with me, and give me hugs. I likes them.
-I have time to read books and go to the Museum of Art.

Rewind's broken.... so you improvise the off-beat?

Back to Provo.

Tomorrow.

Home was lovely. Is lovely. Shall continue to be lovely?

Mm... I don't want to.

Gulp.

I registered for my half marathon.

Money has been paid.

I'm doing it.

Refocusing on 101 list.

Goal: make good headway on it this summer.

I have a good number in progress.

To do list:

-Go to the temple

-Music.

-Read.

-Create.

I need out.

When it rain and rain and rain and rains....

Dear Bloggerville,

I've mentioned. It's spring! In addition to being spring, it's awful rainy. This tends to be a characteristic of spring, I realize. However, in Utah, this much rain is ridiculous.

In a good way.

Did you know that running in the rain is epic? Especially after the wind starts blowing a bunch of dust at you and you feel gross? And then it begins to rain... or pour? And your iPod decides to start playing songs about rain? People seem so much friendlier when they run past you as you run through the rain. And then when you run into them the next morning, 12 hours later, running, at the same junction.... that's just odd. In an awesome way.

Rain!

Rex Lee Run!

So, I ran the Rex Lee Run again this year. Thankfully, unlike last year, I didn't have some annoying boy telling me how slow I run. Also, instead of running the 5K, I ran the 10K. In 70 minutes... which means approximately 11 minute miles. Which is fairly slow, but I ran the whole thing. So who cares if I'm slow? I'll go faster later.

Also, when my ORCA check is deposited, I'm signing up for the Utah Valley Half Marathon. Gulp? It's in 12 weeks, though. I can go from running 7 miles to 13. That's only... a six mile increase? Well, considering I could go from five to seven without much trouble in the course of two weeks, I should be able to work up from there. Right? Right?

Run! Winco! Yogurt!

Tonight, I came home from class, ran stairs and did sprints, came home, ate goldfish, was informed of a Winco trip, showered in 5 minutes, then experienced the glorious experience of Winco.

Random thoughts:
  • I want to live somewhere close to a Winco and a temple. Temple being most important, obviously. Winco is still awesome.
  • I own wheat germ.
  • Greek yogurt = lots and lots of protein. And much cheaper in larger quantities at Winco. Win.
  • My index finger has numbness from playing guitar.
  • Greek yogurt= delicious. And my new obsession....
  • Why can't Winco and Meijer exist in the same state?
  • Running makes me happy and sore.
  • I'm running a 10K next Saturday.
  • :)

Lavender!

So, I ran a 5K through lavender. It was pretty awesome. We got awesome swag bags (which included lavender oil and fantastic water bottles... as well as a rather disgusting apricot bar). The race involved waking up waaay too early, hurt feet, the threat of rain, and gravel. However, it involved lavender. And running in the morning. In conclusion: it was lovely. I didn't do as well as I should have, but I had fun and enjoyed the experience. Besides, what's the point of running through flowers if you can't enjoy them?

I'm looking forward to the next 5K we have planned: SoJo 5K (in South Jordan) that starts up by the Kennecott copper mine and is downhill from there. Goal: do well.

Also, I need to find a half marathon and start training for it. Gulp.
